gas (sng) potential across a range of feedstocks for ad, providing data on ghg, ecosystem and economic impacts. streamlining the supply chain objectives: to define and quantify the material and energy losses along a selection of representative supply chains and propose improved practices to minimize these. carbon uncertainties in the supply chain objectives: to investigate the main sources of uncertainty in different key supply chains and evaluate their potential greenhouse significance. gasification integration objectives: to improve the integration of gasification systems with downstream applications such as conversion to electricity or upgrading to biofuels. torrefaction integrated assessment objectives: to develop a whole systems overview of the impacts of incorporating torrefaction into bioenergy systems. carbon capture and storage enabling technologies objectives: validation of performance of oxy-combustion of biomass and carbon removal efficiencies for biomass derived substitute natural gas. bio-oil partial upgrading objectives: to identify the minimum deoxygenation level required to upgrade fast pyrolysis oil so that it is miscible with a refinery input stream. whole systems analysis of novel biofuel technologies objectives: to compare process and techno-economic performance of gasification, pyrolysis and other routes to biofuels. clean energy utilisation from biogas and biomass gasification objectives: this project aims to develop realistic and predictive physicochemical models for biogas and bio-syngas combustion and mappings between the combustion and emission characteristics and the fuel compositions for clean energy utilisation from renewable gaseous fuels. photocatalytic bioethanol production objectives: this multidisciplinary project will address the challenge of renewable energy with the development of a sustainable, cost effective, low environmental impact process for conversion of low value fibrous waste into high value bioethanol. increasing the energy yield from the integrations of anaerobic digestion and pyrolysis objectives: to improve the energy yield obtained from processing the residual organic fractions of municipal
